Asia is ageing at a speed for which there is no ready-made model. By 2050, one in four people in the region will be over 60. The question is not only where they will live or who will care for them. It is what kind of life our systems will allow them to continue living.
I do not see senior living as real estate with care added, or healthcare transferred into a more attractive building. At its best, it is a way of preserving agency, purpose and human connection as needs change. To work, it must make sense to residents and families, fit the culture around it, support caregivers and remain economically durable.
Since 2013, I have been building and operating eldercare platforms across Asia. The reflections below come from that experience: how demographics, culture and policy shape family decisions; how care and longevity models evolve; and how we can add life to years rather than simply years to life.

In China, 9/9 turns longevity into a celebration
🎉 Today is the 9th day of the 9th month in the Chinese lunisolar calendar 🐉 and in Chinese, 9-9 sounds like "long-time-long-time"—which symbolizes longevity. 👵🏼🧓🏼 That makes today China's “Seniors Day!” What better occasion to celebrate the wisdom, humor, and—let’s face it—unfiltered advice that our seniors generously share with us every day? 😄
🏮 At Sindora Living, we believe aging isn’t just about “adding years to life”—it’s about “adding life to years”. Whether it’s spontaneous dance parties in the garden (trust me, those happen!) or fiercely debating which team will dominate at the next Olympics, we’re constantly reminded that age is just a number… and sometimes, it’s the setup for the best punchline.
👉Our residents? They’ve earned the right to say what they want, when they want, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We take care of them like family, with a side of fun and a sprinkle of sass. In return, they keep us on our toes, sharing stories, offering advice, and—let’s be real—winning every argument with experience to back it up.
🪭To the seniors at Sindora and beyond: Thank you for keeping us grounded, laughing, and learning. You’ve seen it all, and we’re honored to be part of your next chapter.
💬 So, let’s keep celebrating our seniors—not just today, but every day. And the next time you hear “back in my day…,” take notes. You might just learn something… or at least walk away with a good laugh!

Sindora, an empowering senior-living brand from Singapore, has arrived in Nanjing. We are committed to creating a new model of senior living that goes beyond traditional care, with high-quality facilities and services designed to preserve as much autonomy as possible.
We believe that our parents are older, not less capable. A multidisciplinary team works together to provide personalised support: care, without taking over. International medical concepts and equipment support rehabilitation and chronic-disease management. We seek the right balance between prevention, support and care, focusing on what each person can do rather than what they cannot.
Our in-house digital management platform improves service efficiency and helps reduce incidents. Technology enables a higher level of human care. Age-friendly design is integrated into every detail of the living environment so that residents can move freely and independently.
Hair may turn grey, but life can remain colourful. Comfortable spaces and varied cultural activities help residents discover new interests and remain active. Food is not only a daily necessity but an experience, combining local specialities with flavours from around the world.
A senior-living community can also be a place of discovery and enjoyment. Inspired by Singapore’s Garden City, the environment offers rich, multisensory experiences designed to support memory, independence and happiness, and to help slow cognitive decline.
Private and comfortable inside, yet connected to the city outside, Sindora Nanjing keeps residents close to familiar neighbourhoods and family life. Live on your own terms. We are here to help you begin the life you have in mind.

A visit to Sindora Nanjing
A short visual visit to Sindora Living’s community in Nanjing. The film offers a direct view of the environment rather than describing the model only through plans and presentations.
Physical space is part of the care model. Circulation, shared rooms, landscape and the atmosphere of daily life shape how a community is experienced by residents, families and staff.

Cognitive impairment does not erase a person’s social role
🌍 Every year, September 21st is observed as World Alzheimer's Day. This year, it fortuitously coincided with Jiangsu’s Senior Care Expo in Nanjing, where Sindora will debut its premier assisted living community at year’s end.
☕️💐In partnership with Nanhu Café, Nanjing's most revered coffee shop, Sindora Living presented the "Forget Me Not" pop-up coffee shop. Visitors were warmly greeted and served their beloved coffee by delightful senior citizens who happen to suffer from cognitive impairment, yet are strongly determined to remain active and keep playing a role in society👵🏼🧓🏼. This tender interaction offered gentle reminders of the invaluable connections we hold dear. 💖
🩵💙🧡As guests ventured through our Sindora coffee shop, they were immersed in a world of care and revival. 🧘♂️ A preview into our comprehensive offerings, such as soft gym, rehabilitation, neurostimulation, memory care, and holistic health maintenance heightened the excitement! 🌟 The pinnacle? A lively swing dance workshop, infusing the event with jubilation and vibrant rhythm! 💃🕺
🫵Stay tuned as we eagerly countdown to the grand day!
🐰🥮And while we’re at it, Happy Mid-Autumn Festival to everyone! 🌕🐇

Why stay healthy if not to enjoy life?
What’s the point of staying healthy, preserving physical capabilities, stimulating cognitive proficiency, if not to share more happy moments with your loved ones? Merry Christmas everybody! To many years of shared happiness with your friends and family!
